WAYN.COM

http://www.wayn.com/ or “Where are you now?” is a Web2 site where you can find old friends and possibly, if they are in your area, you can arrange a meeting with them. You can also meet new people.
Let’s say you are going for a holiday to Borneo and you are going on your own. You can search for people who have been or who live there. You can contact them to ask for advise like where to go there or you can even ask them if they want to meet with you there. Maybe they could show you around or take you to their favourite club.
Let’s see into details a bit more:
“Home” – shows you news and list of buddies and contains links to most useful functions of the site.
“Account” – lets you edit your personal details, get your lost password, delete your account or for some price subscribe for a better account which gives you some advantages.
“Club” – is a new function that gives you 4 questions like “what’s your dream destination?” just to see that destination in a chart of popularity. It also contain link to a online Java and Flash games.
“Profile” – Lets you read, edit profile and it allows you to change the view of your profile I guess (I am not sure because it just looks so unuseful) and again it gives you other links to the same functions.
“Friends” – list of your friends, where you can sort them to groups, write a story about them see who are their friend and their friends’ friends. You can also see the stuff they have uploaded and check what their birthdays are, what trips they took and read about the trips. You can also take a quiz about your friends profile if you are seriously bored.
“Mail” – There is not much to say, it is a mail alright. There are couple of extra features like real-time messenger, SMS messaging, eCards, Alerts.
“Who’s Online” – is just a link to a search engine for member that are currently online.
“Forums” – there are some good ideas there I think. It contains many forums to chat about anything. The best I found was a country book, where people offer help to other people when visiting their home town. You can also find a travel buddy if you are about to travel somewhere on your own.
Next 3 links I haven’t found that interesting because those functions are now all around, right I am talking about uploading and viewing your pictures, videos and blogs. But it is good to connect these with the stories about your trip, so everyone can actually see what you have seen there.
“Trips” – you can plan your trip and keep a track of all your trips. You can also view your friend trips.
“Travel guide” – can give you some really good ideas when you are planning to travel somewhere but you don’t seem to be able to decide. It has a lot of information about places that members already visited. It also contains a chart of most popular locations and picture galleries of these places. You could add new town to the database or just add new info about all town that is already in the database.
Last function is “Search” which gives you choices like search for Name, New members, Online members, who viewed my profile and very important “Search for flight” powerful search tool that searches over 100 travel sites to get you a flight ticket you desire.
Overall I think this site has some great ideas but the way it is graphically designed it just looks so chaotic, I am probably going to avoid. And there are just too many pointless functions that only make this site so much more confusing. The makers should just make it simple.
If anyone disagrees with my opinion or thinks that I have misjudged it my apologies.
